Thanks for your interest in OpenLab!

We love working with interesting people. For most inquiries, you can reach out to Reuben at: ryoungbl@stanford.edu, or keep reading to see if the answer to your question is below.

We are also on social media (kind of) @stanfordopenlab

Want to get involved?

Please feel free to browse some of the pathways, below. We have many ways to integrate into the OpenLab ecosystem with various levels of formality. Please note that for more "formal" involvement (e.g., staff positions, research, etc.), we tend to choose based on project and culture fit. OpenLab is not the right environment for most people, and we actively try to weed out individuals who care more about boosting their personal profile or who are only interested because we are Stanford-affiliated. Instead, we try to prioritize and support individuals, projects, and ideas that genuinely don't fit in anywhere else.

Stanford students can engage via our OpenLab Student Fellowship program. For more information, please visit: https://openlab.stanford.edu/student-fellowship

Academics are a core part of the OpenLab community. Current Stanford students and researchers have the advantage of minimal bureaucratic friction to join the lab. For students and researchers currently at other institutions, we have most of the traditional pathways for collaboration. Please reach out to Reuben Youngblom [ryoungbl@stanford.edu] for more information.

For those interested in keeping up with OpenLab but no immediate interest in actively doing research or other work, we have a few options for engagement. Our weekly research meetings will start up soon; please check back here for updates. Additionally, we run a few conferences every year that are open to the public.

The ways in which we work with industry and government are many, from consulting to sponsored research. If your organization has a research question that would benefit from OpenLab's unique multidisciplinary structure, don't hesitate to reach out!
